Archive: GGDC 60-Industry database (8-2003)

All series derived from this database need to be referred to as:
"University of Groningen, GGDC 60-Industry Database, July 2003, http://www.ggdc.net/"

The 60-Industry Database contains data on value added at constant and current prices and persons employed for (at most) 60 industries covering the economy for 16 OECD countries. At present, the period from 1990 to 2000 is covered. Backdates to 1979 are under construction and expected to be available on line at the end of this year. The industry classification used corresponds broadly to 2-digit groups in the ISIC rev. 3 industry-classification with some further disaggregation in sectors like manufacturing of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus, transport equipment manufacturing and business services. This allows a distinction between ICT-producing, ICT-using and non-ICT industries in both manufacturing and services. The list of industries and subdivision of industries according to ICT intensity can be downloaded here. A full description and analysis of the database can be found in:

  • Ark, B. van, R. Inklaar and R.H. McGuckin (2002), 'Changing Gear': Productivity, ICT and Service Industries: Europe and the United States, GGDC Research Memorandum GD-60.

Please note that this is an old version of the 60-industry database, available for reproducing results of papers and other work based on this dataset. Proceed to the current 60-industry database for the latest data.
